New rehab centre nears completion

The final touches are being put on the Alice Springs Drug and Alcohol Association's new rehabilitation centre.

The association's new 20-bed facility will be officially opened late next month in the old Aranda House on Kempe Street.

Director Paul Finlay says it will be the first centre in the town to deal with abusers of volatile substances like petrol.

He says there is already a waiting list.

"We've got 14 volatile substance abusers and possibly anywhere between 10 and 15 for alcohol and illicit drugs, so there's enough people to fill the place," he said.
