One of the top riders in the Finke Desert Race has thanked the organisers of the event.
Alice Springs rider Ryan Branford, 20, lost his King of the Desert title yesterday to Ben Grabham from New South Wales, after a crash slowed him down.
More than 300 volunteers were involved in the two-day off-road challenge.
Branford says they have made this year's race a great one.
"They put in a lot of effort, a lot of hours to get this race up and going and all we do is pretty much show up on the day and race it and ... for all the time that they've put in to mark the track and organise the times and everything ... your hat's got to go off to the Finke committee also for the effort they've put in," he said.
